About Getting Along

*

*

I think the reason why everyone can't get along is because they are arguing about the technicalities. They might all be pretty much going along in the same flow, but all they see is their own view of it. I am talking about what is called The Left. Instead of banding together and finding their similarities they separate while guarding their differences. It seems arguing is the method to convey ones information and that the important thing is that your own view wins out. Like a competition, verbal war. How much more progressive if we could use peaceful ways of telling each other our beliefs, if it is peace we are truly trying to achieve. All The Right needs is one popular leader and one set of plans and they are all lined up and following, no need for thoughts of their own. The left just drifts. Why do people have to pick out views and make them theirs and think they are the ultimate and defend them? If we are to believe in differences then why can't we accept differences in how we head to the same goal. Away from oppression and the Americanization of the world and towards freedom. We should learn to get along with those who share this direction and build our strengths, not divide ourselves. It seems peoples attitude is a cross between a bar room and a battlefield and the event is on. We must learn peace with each other first, if we hope to spread it. Save the arguing for the enemy, put up the fight there, hate what they stand for, while our forces gather and spread. There is a lot to be said about getting along as a method to straighten things out.

It may have to do with maturity zatikia, the ones on the right exhibiting much more. Their arts of destruction, brutality, and repression have been well practiced for a long time. Their practiced maturity calls for no need to differ. They know what they are doing and march together. Not all but much of the left, the ones we hear shouting over each other, on the other hand, tend to toward the sophomoric as proponents wave reading recommendations, positions papers, and definitions at each other. Those who talk are by nature not those who do and those who do are by necessity not those who talk. But then, it is the immature young who often bring changes unexpected by the mature. Let us look to, praise, and support the silent doers among them.

I both agree and disagree with your post, Yabasta. Agree with your purpose and intent, disagree with your disliking of differences. Let differences be, if anything, only differences can help make any difference. I dislike blind activism, where all people will unite with feelings and march knowing little why they are and why they ought to. No real change can be brought about by that; root problems will persist. Only learning and scholarship, one you look upon as fighting over technalities, can mean a group that knows what it is doing. Such scholarship will lead to differences, they always have. And it's good. I suggest we resist with educated minds, than fight with empty heads. I know you think otherwise.

The muffin man is seated at the table in the laboratory of the utility muffin
Research kitchen... reaching for an oversized chrome spoon he gathers an
Intimate quantity of dried muffin remnants and brushing his scapular aside
Procceds to dump these inside of his shirt...
He turns to us and speaks:

Some people like cupcakes better. I for one care less for them!

Arrogantly twisting the sterile canvas snoot of a fully charged icing
Anointment utensil he poots forths a quarter-ounce green rosette (oh ah yuk
Yuk... lets try that again...!) he poots forth a quarter-ounce green rosette
Near the summit of a dense but radiant muffin of his own design.
Later he says:

Some people... some people like cupcakes exclusively, while myself, I say
There is naught nor ought there be nothing so exalted on the face of gods grey
Earth as that prince of foods... the muffin!

Girl you thought he was a man
But he was a muffin
He hung around till you found
That he didnt know nuthin

Girl you thought he was a man
But he only was a-puffin
No cries is heard in the night
As a result of him stuffin

Atanu, I have no dislike of differences and your making a lot of assumptions here.

All heads need to fight towards freedom. The masses behind those who speak the truth.

Pisces, at least it had an effect

Anonymous, thank you for your muffin poem

Anonymous' poem is actually a song by Frank Zappa

Ok Zatikia, so you don't dislike differences. What about blind activism, do you like that?

Atanu,

I have spent a good deal of my life seeking out the differences, they are the meaning to everything, along with the similarities.

It is a fact that the masses can be swayed and if they can be pulled a better direction, even though they really do not undertand it, it is for the best. People want to be followers for the most part. But if ones protests are just but part of the whole that makes it what it is, then there is harm. Protests become an outlet for the fustration of the public but never go beyond that. In some countries protesting works and changes the process, in others just part of the process. If your going to fight back that way you should do it effectively or not do it.

Zatikia, I was a member of groups with diversified leftist progressive groups, some worked for a while and others just ended terribly due to bureaucractic power plays and greed (rather ideological)

In Lebanon for example, now plenty of Left wing activists are stuck between a Stalinist a la Arab Nationalist Lebanese Communist Party and a Neo-Con hidden (still tiny though) movement that claims the people know nothing and it is the alliance with the elites that changes the difference (+ other neo-con thoughts their name: Democractic Leftist Movement).

In any case: I hope this link would contribute alot by Hal Draper: Two Souls of Socialism: (Even though written in 1966, a master piece to ponder on)

Groups so often put their own importance first and forget the greater cause.

I lead a simple life here in Mexico and usually just go by how things feel and do not know much about names and classifications and verifications. I must be way behind the times by now. But thank you for the link, I will take a look for what goes with the truths already in me.

Mullet, words and names, forever fragmenting all furter and further.

One origin of oppression is a loss of freedom to be different from the oppressor. The problem of resisting oppression is to find a commonality amongst those trying to preserve the right to their differences. If there is anything a true individual appreciates about humanity is its inherent right to be unique, and that is the common link of the left buried beneath the constipating competition of those insisting their difference must be the one agreed upon.

Rancho Perros Bravos said...

Gregrandgar, how good if our differences bring us together. We need to defend our uniqueness while allowing others, that are going the same way, theirs. Otherwise we become the oppressor.

I wish we all could just get along in all our differances in peace for peace and for a healthy mental understanding of all freedoms in peace. But then what do i know can freedom ring is it a circle of life a ring to ware in happness ????

"If your going to fight back that way you should do it effectively or not do it." - Yaba, true.

"If there is anything a true individual appreciates about humanity is its inherent right to be unique" - Greg, true.

(What;'s wrong with me today, I seem to agree, hmm...)

MFL, hello.

Pisces, thanks, it rang a bell, felt a bit confused about it.

"the intellectual persuasion sometimes get distanced from the people...it becomes a game of words" - Mullet, true, unfortunately. Not always. The former I simply call parasites (let alone the rest, but then this is a decent blog, so I won't use the lofty term I generally use "offline", even if my apporach is not at all anti-intellectual. But, you are right here.

Atanu Bandyopadhyay said...

yabasta - the intellectual persuasion sometimes get distanced from the people

Not true at all. Or else that person will not be an intellectual. The commonfolk sometimes misread intellectuals as idealistic fools and utterly impractical. Incorrect.

Rancho Perros Bravos said...

Atanu,
It was not me who said that, it was mullet and in many ways I agree with her. All to many have the words and their meaning memorized but know nothing on their own.
