American Interference

It has been a debate inside myself to tell this next post. But what is truth if one must hide it. This is very personal, but also something that which should be shown. I live in a village in Mexico that directly gets hit by the results of Americas War on Drugs. After the revolution here many of the generals were gifted land. The land along the coast of the state of Baja California was divided up among a group of them. This was prime growing land for marijuana that supplied the American need. So even though it was all but forgotten land, along the unhealed scar of the border, it was desirable because of the profits it could bring in. The generals got rich. And as time went on their children inherited that harvest. America decided to make it illegal as a tool to carry out their goals of oppression. Mexico has been told time and time again, you make and keep that crop illegal or your country won't get loans and support and we won't give you the certification that is needed for it. So the underground was created. Same needs from America, but now the game of fulfilling them around the net of the law. Which was fairly easy, after all, it was just a game for some and a way of life for others. But then America got to taking its own rules to seriously and became to greedy for the profits. They stirred a real war, to use it, again, to add to the American fear that is needed to push issues and bend realities to get what they want. And as well to manipulate whole nations. So the drug culture was perfected. The drug lords dethroned and running, and all those under them snatching up the broken pieces of an old system. And Americas plan to squeeze the most money coming and going from drugs make it so incredibly profitable that there are many ready to risk all to have a piece. A world of danger and chaos.

But for many, the top is not where they want to be, they just want to sell the family crop, like they always have. Narcotraficantes are what they are called. My neighborhood is full of them. One of the remaining areas where somewhat of a truce is called and it is let be. But it is changing too. These families have a good income and can live better than usual lifestyles. This benefits the whole neighborhood. My area has little crime, very safe for women and children and the people here back each other. These are fine family people, well mannered, clean living and better educated. I know, because I live among them.

And now to tell about my New Years morning, always a day that makes you think more about the content of it. A rancher, from a family here, had come to my house early to buy their little daughters two of my pups. They had parked outside my gate and we were visiting around the bed of the truck while the girls and pups played inside it. Then suddenly four Mexican special unit police trucks and a car came cruising past. America requests this type of action and the obligation must be fullfilled. A show of force, their part of fighting the war. Every once in awhile they have to bring someone in too. We stepped back out of the road to give them room to drive by and my husband said a polite goodmorning in response to one of the machine gun toting polices good morning, riding standing up in the back of a truck with another. The pup room was the closest shelter, so we all spent some time in there waiting. They circled, and came up on the house just down the street and swooped on it. But to late, the family had left in time, their music still playing and the kids Christmas toys out in the yard. It was just a show, good enough, and then the well armed police left. They don't do this because they fear the evils of marijuana, they do it because their captain said to because we have to look right for the Americans.

Why does America have to creep into so much of life that is not theirs? Why must even the peace of a new year in a good village be shattered because of Americas interference. Why can't this nation leave others alone? So what if a family keeps on growing what they always did and sells it to the ones who always wanted it. America has totally no right what so ever to force these things to happen. They ruin the peace wherever they go. Claiming that is what they are making.
