Living your Beliefs

*

*

For so many, what they live, and what they believe are two different things. Many do not live their beliefs, only hold them inside. Making thoughts and goals of them. Not realities. They may make good companions, but beyond that add little, especially to the outside world. Many would do different if they could. But most of those would not, if it meant a sacrifice in another area, like security or ease. They would rather keep their dreams conveniently out of reach. Why change when you can stay the same. America is a nation of just such people. Ideally probably quite a few of them do not want to be killers and wreckers of the planet. And even a few try to live in balance in a land that demands imbalance. A society sickens when its better part must be stifled down, even to each individual, so they can live with the shame of what their country does, to others and it´s own. What of the so called caring, to have the leader of the nation you proclaim to love, the head of a mob of power hungry murderers out to rape the world. They cannot divorce themselves from what they do not like about America, it is as a whole in what it does, it is the outcome that counts, the results. Each adds up to what it is. In America, you cannot live as you believe, or you must believe in the wrongness of it. It is a nation that makes you live a lie. And freedom always strangles when you lie.

I live my beliefs, I always have. I feel it’s the only way to live, by not compromising them. Its lead me on an interesting and very meaningful path. Putting principals first. There was a time when America appeared worth saving, but that was just an illusion. It has been doomed from the start. Just shooting up on violence and greed until its topped itself out on it. Exposed its insides for what they are and now no ever hiding them again. Only for those who willfully hide from the facts of their country so they can live what is known as the good life off the illgotten gains. America is past its time, as a nation, but as a force it sweeps the world in its corruption of society and methods. Even if one leaves America, to do the right thing, they must always fight Americanization, wherever it is. America the country, is nothing but a quick experiment in history, all about ready to finish its change since its fall from belief. One should love their life, but not such a country.

As Lou Reed once said: "It's like ancient Rome"

I'll copy some from a comment made on the Forum...

"Usuk ... the colonialist nation that pretends it is two, US and UK, while in colonialism's operational reality is one, Usuk. US comes first in the naming because it leads the world in having 24 colonies while the UK is second with just 14. ... Usukers are hardly known as the sharpest tacks in the world awareness bulletin board unless that be shown in playing computer games that blow away darker pigmented people with names and dress unlike their own that they term "terrorists" ... in the realm of suffering and stuggle, ... Usukers' influence results in dumbing down what could otherwise be.

To realize that the US government has wrested control from the principle of representing the people in its rampaging imperialism, and then to make blanket condemnations of the people of that country for the atrocities of the government, seems like an empty, self contradiction. But then, maybe you think the people who didn't vote for the leader or his policies are still complicit in the attrocities because they haven't stormed the gates?
As always, I see blanket assumptions about a population fitting simple descriptions being no less misguided than guided blanket fire of missles on civilian populations in some excusable war on their government. I have always agreed with your feelings about the USUKI governments lack of morality, I just differ about how completely that represents my fellow humans, still here, fighting as good a fight as we see effective. It's a tough row to hoe, but it is an act of living by our principles, rather than leaving it to someone else or devine providence to clean up.

There is a lot more at fault than Bush and company jumping your government. That is just one of the end results of how Americans allowed their country to grow. One must generalize when they are not talking about the exceptions. America, around the world, and in its effects, is seen as a whole. Perhaps the people do not approve their government, but that does not stop it from being what it is, and a country will be judged on what it does, not what it wanted to do.

Ones principals can only go so far in America. The very money you make, part is taken by your government to do its evil deeds. You may not believe in the system but you are part of it, no choice, you are there.

This basis for the perception of an old man of his nation and its people will not oft be heard for there are few yet alive to declare it. We who grew to adulthood in the US during the 1930's and 40's were taught well by government, schools, media, and surrounding society to hate the racist superiority inherent to the beliefs and actions of those German people who championed Hitler's barbarism. We learned to cheer resistance fighters and militaries aligned against their colossus. Examine those roots and defining lessons when divining what brings us to stand in opposition to the US people allowing, promoting, and cheering barbarity of the Nazism they foster today.

I don't doubt that your observations are correct Pocho - it just goes to show how progress in media technology has assisted in the ease with which the unscrupulous have succeeded in indoctrinating the masses.
The sad truth appears to be that people actually prefer to remain ignorant; no matter how sophisticated their society appears to be.

It is a nation that makes you live a lie. I cannot argue with that fact. Excellent piece.

Aunt Yab,
What was your upbringing like? I have heard that american indians love hunting, did you or your father and brothers do any of that? Again, and this is interesting, despite that you claim that you were brought up differently, which I have no doubt must have been the goal, is it not true that with their system all around you, certain paths must have crossed with you, and those around you? I would imagine it is not as easy as one would like it to be to be different; we are all constrained by the system around us you see. That of course does not make hypoctrites of us, as many people simplictically believe. Helpless rather.

Did you have a courtyard where you grew your own vegetables and fruits as many Indians do? I even heard your people have weekly gatherings at chosen homes, those must have been fun.

Atanu,

I am not American Indian. And lets not reminesce about my childhood on my blog. Just leave it at that I had a very good and enlightening one. For me, it is natural to be different.
